Minutes of the Alpaca Research Foundation Meeting
February 21, 2011
Present were: Abe Rosenbloom, Allan Dewald, Patricia Craven, Pat Long, Karen
Baum, Lisa Williamson, Michelle Ing and Randy Larson. The meeting was brought to
order at 6:03pm, PST.
January Minutes: Abe and Allan moved for approval, Karen 2nd. Unanimously
approved.
Treasurer’s report: Please see Treasurer’s report for full details.
Development Committee: Email blasts for the stud raffle are getting ready to be
sent out. One person has purchased 20 tickets for the stud raffle already. Kerry
Anderson has resigned the development committee after 10 years of service. She
served as chair of the committee during the latter part of her service.
MAF/LMRG Update: Allan reports that the Bedenice study has made some changes
that were approved by ARF BOD by email this past week. The budget will remain
the same. Also, donors may choose where they want to direct funding for a
specific project.
Meeting the Challenges of Genetic Improvement: The committee is scheduled to
meet February 28, 2011. To be discussed is continuing education credits. MAF is
going to sponsor a speaker. Gregg Adams and Ahmed Tibary will be co-editing the
reproductive biotechnology portion of the conference materials and Warren
Johnson will be editing the genetic portion of the conference materials. ARF
BOD has voted and approved sponsorship of 3 speakers for a total of $4500.
Patricia moved to approve this motion and Allan seconded. Unanimous approval.
New Business:
Partnership discussion: The board agreed to approve affiliation with certain
companies to profit from a percentage of sales with full disclosures as to the
nature of the affiliation.
Allan moved to adjourn the meeting, Pat seconded. Meeting was adjourned at
6:45pm, PST.
Next meeting is scheduled for March 21, 2011 at 6:00pm PST.
