Minutes of the Alpaca Research Foundation Meeting
March 19, 2007
The meeting was
called to order at 9:04pm ET. Present were Michelle Ing, Lisa Williamson, Karen
Baum, Patricia Craven, Abe Rosenbloom, Allan Dewald, Randy Larson & Pat Long.
President’s Report: Abe reported on a meeting at NC State on fiber at the
textile college. There was discussion of the results of Angus McColl’s research
(funded by ARF).
The minutes for February 2007 were approved by email.
The Treasurer’s Report was reviewed and discussed. Allan made a motion to
approve the Treasurer’s report. Randy seconded. All approved.
Patricia discussed the stud raffle. Allan motioned that there be some
reimbursement for volunteers who help with the stud raffle at the AOBA
conference. Randy seconded. All approved.
MAF Update: Allan discussed some research results. “Development of a
Quantitative Method of Assessing Insulin Sensitivity in Camelids” by Anna
Firshman, PhD at Oregon State University is being fully funded for the first of
two years by the Willamette Valley Llama Foundation = WVLF ($3000) and LANA
($9342).
LMRG Report: There has been interest to expand the board.
Annual ARF Lecture at AOBA by Dr. Tibary will be at 10:30am Saturday May 19,
2007 in Louisville, KY.
AOBA has decided to move the venue for the stud raffle drawing to the Gala
Banquet rather than just before the AOBA auction, where it has been for the past
6 years. We voted to provide up to $600 to reimburse travel expenses for
Rachelle Black, who is attending the AOBA conference for the sole purpose of
selling raffle tickets and conducting the drawing of the winning ticket.
New business: There was discussion of a research proposal.
The next meeting will be April 23, 2007 9:00pm ET.
Allan moved to adjourn and Randy seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 10:09pm.
