Minutes of the Alpaca Research Foundation Meeting
October 29, 2007
Present were Allan Dewald, Lisa Williamson, Randy Larson, Pat Long, Karen Baum, Patricia Craven, Michelle Ing and Abe Rosenbloom.
The meeting was called to order at 9:05pm EDT.
President's Report: Dr. Jarvinen requested a no cost three month extension. UDSA Ag Research Services want to add ARF to their website. There was discussion of the potential role ARF could play in defining the respiratory disease syndrome being seen in alpacas.
Secretary’s Report: August 28 minutes were approved by Allan and seconded by Pat. Passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report: Grant account beginning balance was $447,515.70 with income of $13,145.11 and expenses of $8,560.00 making an ending balance of $452,100.81. Administrative account beginning balance was $26,566.32 with income of $96.28 and expenses of $2,616.46 resulting in an ending balance of $24,046.14. The credit card account started with $688.82 with income of $633.68 and fees of 57.12 leaving a balance of $1265.38. The credit card account has 100% of donations going to research, as are all donations.
Allan approved with Patricia as second. Passed unanimously.
Development Committee Report: ARF will be sending out the letter. The Super Stud Raffle will occur during the annual AOBA conference. Legacy will be the huacaya stud and Sirrius Black will be the suri stud.
MAF & LMRG Update: Allan brought us up to date on the activities at MAF.
ARF Sponsored Scientific Meeting 2008: Patricia discussed the progress of a meeting on camelid genetics. The invited speakers have been contacted. It will be February 22-24, 2008 in Scottsdale, AZ.
The 2007 grant proposals were discussed and funding was allocated. Certain researchers whose proposals were submitted to ARI will be contacted to resubmit to ARF.
The next meeting will be on Monday at 9:00 EDT on November 19, 2007.
