The purpose of this study is to establish the serological (humoral) response to an Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) vaccine (Encevac TM, Intervet) in 45 healthy alpacas.

Specific Objectives:

1.      Evaluation of EEE serum-antibodies via a semi-quantitative plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT) following 3 intramuscular vaccinations with Encevac TM at 4 week intervals.

2.       Assessment of local and systemic reactions following EEE vaccination.

The hypothesis is that alpacas will develop virus-neutralizing antibody titers similar to those reported in horses following repeated EEE vaccination.
